HEI Seminars

Seminar Topics

Our seminar topics range over areas from site contamination management through to Green and Gold Bell Frog studies, from Aboriginal consultation to nuclear power.

HEI endeavours to provide a range of quality speakers to address current environmental issues of regional, state and national relevance.

Topics have included:

  • Environmental legislation updates
  • Land regeneration/rehabilitation
  • Contaminated site management
  • Waste reduction schemes
  • Catchment management
  • Regional environmental management strategies
  • Case studies
  • Air quality issues
  • Environmental perceptions of the Hunter
  • Major environmental projects in the region

As an extension of the dissemination of information, HEI has also successfully hosted one day symposiums on relevant environmental topics, eg. 'A review of the Contaminated Land Industry - The Customers' and Consultants Perspective'.

The objective of the seminars and special events is to bring high quality speakers to the group who can privide insights into the how's and why's of their area of special interest.  The seminar topics are programmed to be diverse, to broaden the understanding of how we are moving forward and what is driving other professionals in their work.

HEI endeavours to make the symposiums available to HEI members at a minimal cost with profits being used as rebates for attending members, or to fund other HEI initiatives. It is envisaged that in future HEI will promote other symposiums on environmental issues relevant to the members.

Site Visits and Inspections

HEI organises trips to industrial and other sites of interest throughout the Hunter Region.

HEI also runs special events and extended events, where the topic may require more time and opportunity for greater depth.
