This conference is run by Hunter & Central Coast Regional Environmental Management Strategy (HCCREMS).

Over 3 exciting days The Alternative Futures Conference will deliver an exciting multidisciplinary conference addressing climate and risk, land use planning, biodiversity conservation, liveable communities and urban design and feature some of the leading thinkers and innovators from across Australia and overseas.

Alternative Futures – a 3 day Conference – POSTPONED til late 2012

HCCREMS is a framework group established to guide and coordinate the efforts of our 14 member councils in addressing a range of environmental issues that are best managed within a strategic regional context. In May 2012, HCCREMS is running a three day conference and workshop for the local, regional and national participants to promote and recognise envrionmental best practice. HCCREMS’s work:

  • Facilitating the cooperative, regional implementation of environmental management and conservation initiatives
  • Leading by innovation, in order to promote ecologically sustainable development throughout the Hunter, Central and Lower North Coast Region
  • Enhancing and promote cost effective and sustainable environmental management programs and practices, through regional cooperation in research, capacity building and information exchange between the member organisations
  • Attracting funding and resources to the region to research, design and deliver innovation and best practice in environmental management policies, practices and programs
