Please join us for a guided tour of Lake Macquarie Council’s Awaba Waste Management Facility, featuring the newly operational Organics Resource Recovery Process Plant.

The new plant is operated by REMONDIS Group and recycles food and green waste, transforming it into high-quality compost products for reuse on the council’s parks and sporting fields.

The facility is the centre-piece of the council’s new three-bin waste management system, which is expected to reduce the amount of waste going into landfill by as much as one third. The facility features Australia’s first fully automated tunnel composing system, which pasteurises food waste in two weeks.

Ticket numbers are limited for this tour, so make sure you get in quickly!

As parking at the site is very limited, so we encourage you to car pool wherever possible.

PLEASE NOTE: As parking at the site is very limited for the guided tour of Lake Macquarie Council’s Awaba Waste Management Facility, we are carpooling to the site.
Please meet at Toronto Country Club (Golf Club) Car Park Wangi Road Toronto by 2:45pm.
We will then proceed to the site on Wilton Rd, Awaba (just around the corner) with a limited number of vehicles for the 3pm start.
