Certified Environmental Practitioner and Underground Mine Training Facility Talk & Tour
May 23, 2012 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm
This seminar will be held at the UGM site, being the former Teralba Colliery (a UG coal mine site in Care and Maintenance). The seminar will be in two parts, the training and standard setting seminars initially (4:15-5:30 approx), and tour of the newly completed mine training facility.
The Certification for Environmental Practitioners (CEnvP) is a professional recognition processs, run through EIANZ, which sets standards for individuals in the environmental industry. Nigel Murphy, CEnvP Board Chair, will provide an overview of the Scheme, its drivers, benefits and process, and where certification is heading in Australia. He will be available to answer questions on individual CEnvP eligibility and assessment. Nigel will be introduced by Michael Chilcott, EIANZ Chair.
Additionally NewSAFE, a UGM Group business, has developed an Underground mine training facility in association with the Mine Rescue Service (MRS). UGM has extensive practical, training and systems experience in UG coal mining, while the MRS has extensive experience in mine training, including virtual similation. The new training facility provides for conveyor, vehicle, mining and bolting practical experience and will be used to provide part of the training (Cert 2 etc) for new starters to the underground coal industry. The facility will be introduced by Brad Phillips, UG Miner and Facility Manager.
A full kit out and small group walk through with trainers has been organised, including demonstraing the operational machines – registration for this tour will be required separately.
