Expert commentary on State of the Environment analysis

The NSW 2012 State of the Environment (SoE) Report provides a snapshot of the status of the NSW environment. Prepared in accordance with the requirements of section 10 of the Protection of the Environment Administration Act 1991, the report aims to provide credible, scientifically based, state-wide information to assist those involved in environmental policy and decision making. Mr Gavin Seymour, A/Manager Knowledge Strategy and Reporting from the Environment Protection Authority will present a summary of key findings in the 2012 report, a background to SoE reporting, and current/future developments.Gavin’s presentation will have specific reference to the Hunter.

Also hear local expert, Dr Alice Howe, Manager, Sustainability Department with LMCC, talk on the current SOE analysis of local scale environmental condition. Both will speak about the importance of environmental monitoring and reporting, the trends emerging from the data, how information at different scales fits together and how all this information helps shape policy and management at the lcoal and regional scale.
