public launch of Timebanking: a process to increase community participation
November 17, 2012 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Timebanking is a community program being coordinated by Hunter Volunteer Centre and Volunteering Central Coast that aims to increase community participation by allowing the voluntary exchange of services between members. By giving one hour to helping another member, you earn one hour of time credits which can be used to receive services that are of personal value: from dog walking, ironing, community gardening, massage, language or music lessons, painting, administrative assistance, working bees… the possibilities are endless!
To celebrate the public launch of Timebanking in the Central Coast, Lake Macquarie, Hunter Valley and Newcastle regions, we are planting 10,000 trees throughout these regions from 17-25 November.
The planting of these 10,000 trees is symbolic of the strength and solidarity of the community and we envisage that as these trees grow Timebanking will flourish into a program underpinning the local communities.
We invite you to help us achieve this goal of planting 10,000 trees by participating at one of the following areas: Cessnock, Gosford, Morrisset, Matiland, Hunter Wetland, Raymond Terrace, Swansea, The Entrance, Muswellbrook, Wyong, Wallsend, Charlestown and Terrigal.
Show your support by joining us in the planting of the trees by RSVP by Wednesday 14 November with your name, contact details and the location you wish to join us to volunteering@communities.nsw.gov.au or 9995 0573. After the 14 November, the specific locations and times will be listed on http://www.volunteering.nsw.gov.au/volunteers/timebanking and you are welcome to show up on the day.
We look forward to planting with you!
