About the event

Please join the Hunter Environmental Institute as we invite you to attend an exclusive site visit of the Belmont Desalination Plant project.

 

Our host for this event is John Holland with guest speaker Professor Donne from the University of Newcastle presenting on opportunities for the re-use of brine produced during the desalination process.

 

During the Site Visit, our host will take you through the active construction sites and provide an oversight of the environmental challenges and techniques engaged by the contractors on this Critical State Significant Infrastructure project.

 

The site visit will take place at the Desalination Plant Project Site on Thursday 11 June 2026 from 14:00 – 16:00. Details of the planned meeting point and site access will be provided to ticket holders closer to the date. Registrations are essential as places are limited.

 

The Site Visit will include some walking. Visitors who wish to attend the Site Visit must ensure they attend the site free from the effects of alcohol, drugs and fatigue and have the minimum PPE requirements for attending an active construction site including:

Steel Capped Boots, Long Sleeve Shirt, Long Pants, High Vis Vest, Hard Hat & Safety Glasses.
