Circular Economy: Waste Seminar

Please join the Hunter Environmental Institute as we invite you to go behind the scenes at a working NSW EPA-licenced waste processing and resource recovery facility and hear how Recycle Central is tackling circular economy challenges and navigating the State Significant Development (SSD) application for the Kurri Kurri Integrated Resource Recovery Centre.

Our host for this event is Recycle Central, with presentations from industry leaders providing insights into resource recovery, circular economy initiatives, and the proposed Kurri Kurri Integrated Resource Recovery Centre.

During the site visit, attendees will go behind the scenes at a working NSW EPA-licensed waste processing and resource recovery facility. Recycle Central representatives will provide an overview of their operations, discuss how the organisation is addressing circular economy challenges, and outline the progress of the SSD application for the Kurri Kurri Integrated Resource Recovery Centre.

Guest speakers include David Gater, NSW Operations Manager, Samantha Cross, BD & Industry Engagement Lead, and Ray Neilson, Project Manager for the SSD Application.

The site visit and presentations will take place at Recycle Central, 8 Styles Street, Kurri Kurri, on Thursday 6 August 2026 from 10:00am – 1:00pm. Lunch will be provided. Registrations are essential as places are limited.

Ticket pricing is free for HEI Members and $40 for Non-Members.

The Site Visit will include some walking. Visitors who wish to attend the Site Visit must ensure they attend the site free from the effects of alcohol, drugs and fatigue and have the minimum PPE requirements for attending an active construction site including:

Steel Capped Boots, Long Sleeve Shirt, Long Pants, High Vis Vest, Hard Hat & Safety Glasses.
