Newcastle Inner City Bypass (Rankin Park to Jesmond) – Construction Environmental Challenges: Hollywood Investigations

This event featured presentations by representatives from the City of Newcastle Museum, Transport for NSW, and Fulton Hogan Contractors on the environmental challenges encountered during construction of the Newcastle Inner City Bypass project between Rankin Park and Jesmond. The seminar highlighted the heritage assessments and archaeological investigations related to the “Hollywood” shanty town precinct uncovered during the project. Attendees gained insight into how key environmental and constructability challenges were assessed, managed, and overcome.
The seminar also offered a special opportunity to explore the Newcastle Museum’s exhibition A Place Called Hollywood with museum staff providing detailed information about the artifacts and social history of the precinct. Following the seminar, the Environmental Impact Australia and New Zealand (EIANZ) hosted EnviroDrinks at The Clarendon Hotel.
