Secrets of the Black Sea

This fascinating presentation shared discoveries from the Black Sea Maritime Archaeology Project (Black Sea MAP), the largest maritime archaeology expedition in history. Attendees were taken on a journey as 65 remarkably preserved sailing ships emerged from the anoxic depths, revealing stories of early human maritime activity and connectivity.

Dr Dragomir Garbov – Associate Researcher, Centre for Underwater Archaeology, Bulgaria
Dr Garbov holds advanced degrees in archaeology and specializes in wooden shipbuilding and maritime landscapes of the Golden Age of Sail. He has directed underwater excavations and is a core member of Black Sea MAP, combining academic research with practical diving expertise.
