This webinar explored how local and regional organisations in the Hunter are building more resilient communities through better disaster preparedness and communication. Delivered by two experienced professionals working directly with councils and emergency management teams, the session addressed both strategic planning and practical communication challenges before, during, and after natural disasters.
Topics included the launch of the NSW Government’s two-year Regional Disaster Preparedness Program and new research led by the Hunter Joint Organisation into disaster communication gaps in local government. Participants gained insights into the support available to councils, key lessons learned from past emergencies, and the innovative tools being developed to build resilience at both institutional and community levels.
