HEI Indigenous Business Webinar

Held on the final day of National Reconciliation Week 2020, this webinar focused on strengthening engagement with Indigenous-owned businesses and promoting opportunities for collaboration. The event provided insights into the role of Indigenous businesses in Australia’s economic landscape, the real and perceived barriers they face, and how environmental and infrastructure sectors can better support and partner with these enterprises.

The main presentation was delivered by Debbie Barwick, CEO of the NSW Indigenous Chamber of Commerce, who spoke about the growth of the Indigenous business sector and pathways for improving procurement, partnerships, and outcomes.

The session also featured personal insights from a panel of Indigenous business owners working across plumbing, scaffolding, branding, health services, and cleaning industries, who shared stories about their journeys, challenges, and successes.

The webinar concluded with a live Q&A, allowing attendees to engage directly with speakers and deepen their understanding of supporting Indigenous enterprise.
